Pre-Farming for Varesa and Iansan in Genshin Impact 5.5: What You Can Do Now

Genshin Impact Version 5.5 is set to introduce two new Electro characters, Varesa and Iansan, and players are already looking ahead to prepare for their arrival.  While gathering all Ascension Materials beforehand isn't always feasible with new region expansions, there's still plenty players can do to get a head start.

Iansan, a 4-Star Electro Polearm user, is anticipated to fill a valuable Support role, potentially offering an ATK buff without the limitations of a character like Bennett.  Varesa, a 5-Star Electro Catalyst user, is expected to focus on Plunging Attacks, offering a unique playstyle within the existing roster.

Leaks regarding the Version 5.5 map expansion show Natlan growing towards the southwest. This new zone will be the source of Local Specialties required for both Iansan and Varesa's ascensions.  Fortunately, the remaining materials for Iansan are already obtainable in-game.

Varesa's Ascension Materials, however, are tied to the upcoming World Boss residing in the Great Volcano of Tollan. This means players hoping to maximize Varesa's potential upon release will need to conserve their Fragile Resin for Version 5.5.

Varesa's kit is designed around Plunging Attacks, and a new Artifact Set tailored to this playstyle will also be introduced in Version 5.5.  As an Electro Catalyst user specializing in plunging, Varesa presents a unique opportunity for team compositions focusing on Overload or Aggravate reactions.

In terms of Talent Materials, Varesa requires Conflict tomes, while Iansan uses Contention tomes. With the current weekly rotation system for Talent Materials, players should plan their farming accordingly in Version 5.4 to be ready for both characters.

While official banner information isn't available, speculation suggests Venti and Xianyun might accompany Varesa as featured 5-Stars in the Version 5.5 banners. The update is scheduled to launch on March 26, 2025.
